Q & A from This Week’s Social Media Marketing Mania Made Simple Webinar

First of all, I’d like to thank everyone who participated in this week’s webinar, Social Media Marketing Mania Made Simple. I love all the wonderful feedback we received from you following the presentation. I am so glad you enjoyed it, and through the notes I’ve received I know that many are now hard at work establishing their social media marketing plan. During the webinar we invited everyone to ask questions. Here are answers to a couple of the questions we received. 1.    What are some examples of information that we should be putting on sites such as Twitter and Facebook? For example, should we offer home Staging tips on those platforms? In my opinion, Twitter is mostly a notification platform. You don’t really add any materials or content there, but rather notices that you’ve upload new materials or added new blog posts elsewhere.  Check question 2 to read how you can have all blog updates link automatically to Twitter. FaceBook, on the other hand, is an excellent platform for videos and photos. Consider starting a photo album for each property you’ve Staged, and write detailed captions so that readers understand the process by which you Staged the home. If you use video, upload clips directly onto FaceBook. Beyond the materials you may add to your FaceBook profile yourself, you may consider linking to outside resources. For example, if you come across an article that you think would be of value to those you’re connected with on FaceBook, you can most likely do so by choosing a share option, typically available next to the article. When you click on a share link, several options will be available. Click on the F, for FaceBook, and follow the 2-step instructions on how to add the link to your FaceBook profile. I suggest you use a blog to post Staging tips and suggestions. That way you have more space available for writing, and once you’ve published the blog post a link from FaceBook can be added automatically. Read more about that below. 2.    Can you describe Ping? During the webinar we discussed the importance of integrating your social media efforts throughout all your various online platforms. Once you’ve signed up for LinkedIn, FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube, and a blog, adding updates to each of them may seem like a chore. True, if you logged onto each network to add a brief note or article, it would take quite a bit of time. By using Ping you make the process much easier. Once you’ve signed up and registered the various platforms you’re on, you only have to make one update and then the rest will automatically update. You can get started with Ping by clicking here. If you’d like to know more about how to best use Ping, click here to read tips at practicalecommerce.com and click here to read an article at socialmediamom.com. An alternative is to set up a syndication of your messages. For example, you can set up your blog posts to automatically feed to your FaceBook wall, your LinkedIn profile, and your Twitter account. In order to have blog posts appear on your FaceBook wall you have to set up a feed using the FaceBook application Notes which you find by clicking on the Application button at the lower left side of your FaceBook screen. Your automatic feed to your LinkedIn profile is set up by choosing the WordPress or Blog Link application through which you set up a blog import. Finally, you can choose to have all blog posts syndicated to Twitter, and the automatic feed can be set up by using an online platform called Twitterfeed.com. The process to set up a Twitterfeed may be a little challenging so you may want to speak with someone who’s experienced with social media marketing platforms.
